Lucile A. Short

Lucile “Ann” Short (Atkinson), 88, formerly of Algoma, WI was reunited in Heaven with her beloved children on August 27th, 2023.

Ann was born on July 8th, 1935, to John Henry and Ruth Bell in Saginaw, MI.  Ann married Ken Short with whom she had her two children, Kenny and Patty. In 1968 they started a successful business, Unifab. Ann was a diligent and hard worker. She continued to run the company with her son after she and Ken divorced. Years later Ann found her life long partner and adoring husband, John Atkinson.  John and Ann settled in Kewaunee, WI, where they ran a bed and breakfast for many years. Ann was a fabulous cook, including everything from large family dinners to delectable desserts. She passed her love of cooking down through the generations to her daughter and granddaughters, all the boys offered to be taste testers instead. Ann and John retired in Algoma, WI, sharing many wonderful years together before he passed in 2017. A couple of years later, Ann moved to Waukesha County to be closer to her grandkids and great grandkids, who she very much enjoyed spending time with.

Ann is survived by her grandchildren, Janelle (Matt) Flintrop, Kevin (Danielle) O’Bannon, Krysten (Aaron aka Buck) Bonham, Cali (Graydon) Wheeler, and Jenna Henry. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren, Rhiannon, Korynne, and Austin Flintrop, Kaymarie and Khylex O’Bannon and William Bonham. 

Ann was preceded in death by her late husbands, John Atkinson and Ken Short. She was further preceded in death by her son Kenny Short Jr. and daughter Patty O’Bannon. 

Services for Ann will be held on Thursday, August 31st, 2023 at Evergreen Cemetery in Algoma, WI (E6067 WI-54, Algoma, WI 54201). The memorial service will start promptly at 3:00pm.
