Larry D. Ranker, age 71, passed away October 20th, 2022, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, WI. He will be dearly missed.
He was born August 24, 1951, to Earl and Shirley Ranker in Elkhorn, WI. After graduating from Wilmot High School in 1969, he went to Gateway Technical college and graduated in 1976, where he studied Civil Structural Technology. Larry began work as a Drywall Carpenter at the age of 16 while he finished school. The early skills and knowledge prepared him for larger projects when he was hired by Findorff in 1982. Since that time, he was stationed all over Milwaukee. He worked on the Federal Plaza, Northwestern Mutual Life, the Midwest Express Center, the Performing Arts Center, State Fair Park, Fiserv Forum, and a long list of other iconic buildings. He also did numerous “side jobs” and was always willing to help his family and friends with various construction projects. He spent his early years racing cars at the Great Lakes Dragstrip and later bought a second 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 similar to the brand new one that he bought in 1970. He shared his interest in cars, snowmobiles, hunting, golf and other sports with his children and grandchildren; always supporting them from the sidelines as they raced and competed. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife, Ellen.
He is survived by first his wife, Pat and their children; Jeremy (Erin) Ranker and Jenny (Josh) Irwin and grandchildren, Hunter, Connor and Delaney. His second wife Ellen and her children; John (Sarah) Lancaster; Tim Lancaster; Nathan (Sumine) Lancaster; Rachel (Chris) Barrett; Elizabeth (Tim) Kinmartin and their children; and many loving family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Terry.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Saturday November 5th, 2022, at Integrity Celebrations Center, ( 2789 Browns Lake Dr. Burlington, WI 53105). A memorial service will be held promptly at 3pm, followed by an open house from 4pm to 6:30pm.
