Ruth Reetz

Ruth J Reetz, 89, surrounded by grandchildren, passed Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Kindred Hearts Elkhorn, WI. Ruth was born and raised in the Wausau area, enjoying being close to family and friends. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, knitting, putting together puzzles, reading and watching the birds. The legacy of slippers, mittens, scarves and baby blankets will remain with family and friends who knew her. Ruth was born July 24, 1926 to the late Richard and Marie (Schmidt) Schubring in Wausau, one of fourteen children. Ruth married Lawrence Reetz on June 8, 1946 in Wausau. He preceded her in death in 1981. Survivors include her son Gary (Kathy) Reetz; grandchildren Sheldon (Nicole) Scheu, Scott (Cindy) Scheu, Sheila (Mark) Fugate, Gary (Alitha) Reetz, Vicki Karo and Josie (Jon) King; 16 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Wayne Degner; brothers Gordon (Mavis) Schubring and Allan (Margeret) Schubring; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter Diane (Wayne, surviving) Degner, parents, husband, brothers Maynard (Carol) Schubring, Rodney Schubring, Dale (Janet) Schubring, Kenneth (Virginia) Schubring, Lyle (Linda,surviving) Schubring, Frederic Schubring, and Terrance (Barbara, surviving) Schubring; sisters Ione (Vernon) Meyers, Carmin (Wilfred) Carpenter, Deloris (Floyd) Radant, and Phyllis (Donald, surviving) Krohn. Family and friends may visit starting at 10:00 until the time of service. Funeral Service will take place at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 703 Flieth St, Wausau on Wednesday, October 7 at 11:30 in the morning. Committal at Pine Grove Cemetery will follow the service. The Rev. Robert Edwards will officiate. Luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship area.


Integrity Funeral Services Waterford, WI will be supporting the family with arrangements. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin.


Grandma, rest in peace, watch the birds, listen to them sing and enjoy the family reunion with all of those who went ahead. We know you are all keeping us safe here until we join the reunion. Our family wishes to thank the staff at Kindred Hearts in Elkhorn, WI who provided a happy home for Grandma during her last year with us. Our deepest appreciation for the excellent care and loving support provided to her.
